The decisionof the new York prosecuters to drop rape charges against Strauss kahn reflects their receipt of several pieces of fresh evidence:
1. Whilst original reports that Mr Strauss kahn was foreign did turn out to be true, it now transpires that he is also rich, white man.
2. His accuser, it now has become clear is also foreign, but crucially is black, female and poor.

This new evidence makes any prosecution of Mr Strauss kahn impossible.
